Actions
Amoxycillin is semi-synthetic penicillin, highly active against a wide range of gram positive and gram negative bacteria. Amoxycillin is bactericidal due to its action inhibiting the synthesis of bacterial cell wall mucopeptide.

Indications 
For the treatment of infections caused by organisms sensitive to amoxycillin in dogs and cats. Amoxycillin is a broad spectrum semi-synthetic penicillin, bactericidal in action. In vitro, it is effective against a wide range of amoxycillin sensitive Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria found in dogs and cats which include; Bocillus cereus, Corynbacterium spp., Citrobacter freundii, Chromobacter sp., Flavobacter spp., Pasteurella spp., (including P. multocida), Salmonella spp. Streptococci and penicillin sensitive strains of staphylococci. It was also proven to be effective against Proteus mirabilis and a majority of Bordetella bronchiseptica and Escherichia coli isolates. Amoxyvet Palatable Drops are suitable for the control of infections caused by susceptible organisms including, infections of the alimentary tract, respiratory tract and urogenital tract, eye and ear infections and skin and wound infections.

Directions for use 
The powder should be reconstituted with 12ml of water to give a 15ml suspension containing amoxycillin at a concentration of 50mg/ml. Shake well before use.

Administer orally, using the graduated pipette provided, at a rate of 10mg/kg bodyweight, twice daily for up to 7 days. The dosage rate of 10mg/kg is achieved by administering 1ml of reconstituted product per 5kg bodyweight. As one drop from the pipette provided contains 2.5mg amoxycillin, administration of four drops per kg twice daily will achieve the recommended dosage. Discard unused suspension after seven days.

Presentation 
Palatable Drops, 50mg/ml powder for reconstitution.

Composition 
Amoxycillin 750mg, as Amoxycillin Trihydrate 50mg/ml when reconstituted.

Contraindications 
Do Not Use in food producing animals. This product should not be used to treat penicillin sensitive animals. As with other penicillins, amoxycillin should not be used orally or parenterally in rabbits or guinea pigs. Caution is advised in other very small herbivores.
